As you may have heard, the Reuseum obtained a bunch of old school voting booths and soon came up with an idea for an art project that incorporates not only the booths themselves, but the meaning behind the booths – the idea that each person has a voice – that whole ‘power to the people’ thing – what’s the word? Oh yeah: democracy.
Art Demands Democracy is what they’re calling it. It’s simple:
1) buy a booth ($12) (available at bricolage, Reuseum or Church of Craft)
2) modify it any way you want
3) display it in our *old* (!) space on first Thursday in August.
Make a political statement – or don’t – it’s totally up to you. We invited our friends the Conservation Voters for Idaho to participate, cause we do not eff around. The point is: it’s a community art project. It’s a way for you to say something, to VOTE on something, to be a part of something. Isn’t that what we’re all after? Yup.
